Latin America File: Neo-Sandinista Nicaragua makes good on promise of "unrestricted support" for Cuba: Ortega takes UN podium, blasts US embargo

Notwithstanding his pre-election self-portrayal as a "born again" revolutionary in good standing with the Catholic Church, Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega is in reality an unrepentant Marxist who immediately reforged political-military links with Moscow on the very day of his re-inauguration in January 2007. As we documented at the time former Russian Prime Minister and "ex"-CPSU member Sergei Stepashin attended that ceremony as President Vladimir Putin's personal envoy. In attendance too were the gloating leaders of Latin America's Red Axis, Comrades Hugo Chavez and Evo Morales.

In March we reported that the neo-Sandinista regime promised "unrestricted support" for the all-inclusive gulag paradise 90 miles south of Key West. Comandante Ortega is as good as his word--when it comes to the communist agenda, of course. During the 62nd session of the United Nations General Assembly, according to Communist Party of Cuba organ Granma, Ortega took to the podium and lashed out at "global imperialist capitalism" and "The Empire" for its "brutal and inhumane" blockade of Cuba. Politicians who support openly communist regimes, like Cuba, are themselves communists.

Nicaragua supports Cuba in the face of U.S. attacks

NEW YORK, September 25 (PL).— President Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua supported Cuba today after attacks by U.S. President George Bush at the United Nations and denounced the "brutal and inhumane" blockade imposed by Washington.

During his speech at the opening of the 62nd session of the UN General Assembly, the Sandinista leader indicated that Bush showed "a total lack of respect" in talking about Cuba while representing a system that had attempted to assassinate Cuban President Fidel Castro.

"They (Washington) have insisted on imposing the blockade against Cuba, while, for political and economic reasons, they have established links with other countries with which they supposedly disagree ideologically," he added.

At the beginning of his speech, the Nicaraguan leader recalled the victims of the economic, commercial and financial restrictions unilaterally imposed by the United States for more than 40 years.

Ortega likewise exposed the aggression in every shape and form suffered by the "heroic and noble Cuban people."

The Nicaraguan president also recalled during his comments the five Cuban men imprisoned in the United States since 1998 for opposing terrorism.

"I want to remember the five Cuban heroes imprisoned within the empire," the leader said in his speech during which he also castigated global imperialist capitalism and accused the U.S. government of representing the worst dictatorship in the history of humanity.

The U.N. has often given a platform for these pro-Soviet dictators like Castro, Ortega, etc. It's certainly no major surprise about this.

You may also want to look into any reports of illegal immigrants committing crimes more than just being here illegally such as murdering an American citizen.

You may also want to look at what the South African Communist Party and the Communist Party USA are doing when they garner support for the "Free" Burma Campaign. This certainly vindicates for Anatoliy Golitsyn's warnings on "democratization". You can find it on my blog.
